QX27-05 RESITOR MAGA-ZINE
With all the talk about "Organizing Resistors" since the Trump Election, I thought, "Hey! Brilliant idea!" Here's my design, and I'm printing out the plastic right now!
I created the Bodies in FUSION 360. The trays are 70 mm long, 10 mm wide, and about 11 mm high. You can put a roll of 10 ¼ watt resistors in, OR 30 if you take them out of their paper holder!
There are 170 compartments! I designed this for my starter set of 164 different resistor values, with 6 left over for LEDs, Opto-Isolators, and such. Here’s a link to the resistor set I bought, if you’re interested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WE1FQ8Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, I've included a WORD document with a list of all the resistors in the package I have so you can print lables, or keep track of where you are at while writing them on the trays. I used a ULTRA-FINE-PRINT Sharpie fro marking my box.
This is kinda crazy, because the thin 1mm layers for the shelf-dividers separate during the build, but it all works well anyway! In fact, the friction keeps the shelves from sliding out if you tip the unit on its side. This unittakes up my entire build platform, so I’d have to separate this into two 5-shelf units to get thicker dividers.
UPDATE (7/24/2017) Thingiverse member 3DE has done a more robust remix of this project that is definitely worth taking a look at! Particularly the thicker cabinet plates that support the trays. A good move! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2445084
STEP files are included so that you can modify them in a cad program. Have fun!
This was sliced and coded using ReplicatorG employing 2 shells (3 total) using PLA.
FlashForge Creator Pro (Similar to Makerbot Replicator 2)
Heated Bed 45 Celsius
Blue Painters Tape on bed, no further treatment
Print Temperature 220 degrees Celsius
No supports or rafts.
Feedrate 40 mm/s
Travel Feedrate 55
(If anybody has more optimum feedrates, please share!)
REQUEST: Please help me improve my sharing! STEP files have proven reliable for me to transport file between different CAD platforms. If STEPs are a problem for you, please let me know what other common and relatively generic Cad format works better for you.
