This was hand designed to show off lenticular text, which is text that appears differently depending on which angle you look at it. It puts the text on two sides of a Christmas tree for a total of 4 (short) words that can be viewed.
It has to be printed vertically. I filed a bug with Simplify3d because of this design. Once you run the dual extrusion tool, then rotate it 90 degrees on Y, you can NOT use the "drop to table" function. It causes the colors to mis-align. You can manually adjust the z position to bring it even with the bottom of the table.
I think that it needs to have a dual extruder to see it properly, perhaps marker pens can be used.
I actually gave it away at an office Christmas party and forgot to get a picture of it first. The rendering of the openscad file is HORRIBLE.
I had a lot of problems getting the dual extrusion to work properly. It seems very difficult to get the settings just right so that two dis-similar PLA will work together for fine work like this. I find the ooze shield essential, but it doesn't always build right, and ends up looking like a mass of spaghetti around the print, even though it is working.
This print needs a raft to hold it down during the print.
I think if I printed it again I would also include a priming pillar.
I include the Openscad source file so everyone could see how it is done.
Note that you need to pick short words, maybe 5 letters or less. You might have to adjust the height of the tree to match the letters.
