Introducing the 'Forge Edition: Dual Extrusion Mount' for the E3D Chimera/Cyclops Dual Nozzle Hot-end and Creality Printer
This is a compact, fully customisable, tested adapter and mount for the E3D Chimera and Cyclops dual extrusion for most of the Creality Series Printers. Any printer that has the featured mount is compatible.
If you've wanted to create a dual extrusion upgrade: simplify the upgrade with this mount!

Following up from my revision of the Fan Mount last week to version 2, I've added a number of optional parts to give users greater control over the thermodynamic cooling of the Chimera and the directional path of air-flow

Key changes:


Additional redesigned lower fan mount (Fan Mount V3)


Additional lower mount flows air over heat-break and not towards build plate


Redesigned fan inlet to reduce the airflow penalty


Added air-fins to part-cooler mounts to direct air away from build surface


Design choices and further notes explained in manual


Update: Version 2 - 01/01/2021
A significant experimental investigation was conducted to elucidate the principle action of cooling within the system to optimise feeding and enable effective retraction performance. Critical insight has been made in respect to how air flows around the mount, Chimera, and how fan placement can better cool the hot-end whilst maintaining a sharp thermal gradient across the heat-break.

Key changes:


Fully redesigned fan mount (Fan Mount V2)


Improved placement of fan to enable air-flow *around* the hot-end


Improve and redesigned air-flow channels by reducing the part cooler mount cable tidy


Full experimental investigation updated and included in the manual



This complementary set of components will allow you to upgrade your Creality Printer to enable dual-extrusion using the E3D Chimera or Cyclops nozzles/hot-ends. You'll need to purchase those parts if you wish to complete this upgrade, below is a full list with links to the ones I purchased.
