This is my design of a clamp to hold down the center mount on the yaw vr motion simulator.
The default solution can lift up quite easily when using a steering wheel or flight yoke.
This will just clip on around the footrest arm near the imu power switch & the toggle clips on to the horizontal piece & pulls it securely in to place.
I tried to make this as simple as possible so the printed pieces are all that is required & it is just a snap fit.
Simply clip this on right at the top near the center holder & slide it up as far as it will go.
It will be a tight fit as it needs to be in order to eliminate play.
Be careful when assembling the clamp pieces as you will have to bend them to get them to clip together.
Start with the middle H shaped piece. carefully squeeze the longer prongs together so you can slip the u shaped end clamp in, 1 side at a time.
Next squeeze the prongs on the lever handle piece together & slip it into the other holes on the H piece 1 side at a time.
Then finally you can clip these 3 pieces onto the frame clamp.
Refer to the pictures if you need to.
IMPORTANT
When doing up the clip for the first time, make sure it is slid all the way up tight, else the prongs can break as it tries to close the excess gap.
if it feels like the clip is too hard to close, DO NOT force it closed else prongs may snap.
instead try to slide the whole thing up further first with a hard push.
or if you need to, take it off & slightly trim the 2 sloped indents on the inside of the big piece. this will allow it to move up a bit further
You should be able to get away with printing this in PLA as i did, but I would recommend PETG as it will take more bending & strain.
its quite possible you could snap an H piece whilst assembling.
Hopefully this will be less likely to happen if using PETG
Also I would advise 5 - 7 perimeters to give it full strength in all the thinner sections.
I have now included an 8.5mm alternative end clamp as i have been informed that newer yawvr's have an upgraded thicker 8.5mm rod/bar on the center stand.
I've also included a 6mm version which could be useful for anyone who has used an m6 bolt through the 6mm hole instead of the default standard plastic piece.
these are untested by me so any feedback on fit is welcome
If you like this design, please give it a like or post a make.
