A Soap Box Derby racer and Local Champion, designed, constructed and driven to victory in 1971 by Scott Matthew Smith of Sioux City, Iowa. The sleek wedge-shaped body was constructed in wood-slats over a shortened wheelbase, the front axle being place rearward as was typical of successfully competitive racers of the day. The nose-up design was an innovation introduced in the mid-sixties. This particular car sported a recumbent occupant design, an external 'shotgun' steering column fashioned out of a doorbell chime, and streamlined tail fairing that enclosed the driver's helmet. It won Best Constructed car at the 1971 All-American in Akron. While on display at a bank, it was misplaced and is, as of this date, considered lost. This model is created from color photographs showing views of the car from multiple angles. The car is equipped with the official All-American Soap Box Derby Championship wheels, painted gold for 1971, with livery showing the driver's sponsor and Scott's name.
