A vintage 1959 Soap Box Derby racer designed, built and piloted by Ronald Noble of Warren, Ohio. Ron won the Local Championship in NE Ohio that year, which allowed him to move on to the National event in Akron and compete in the All-American. I found this car on an online auction. The racer followed the typical design of the Soap Box racer of the time, a curvilinear box construction over a teardrop plan. The driver sat in the crouch-forward position. Wood lath was used for the skin. No information was available in my research on the history of the car or its driver. This model is created from color photos from several angles. It is shown here equipped with the official Soap Box Derby (AASBD) silver wheels with 1959 Championship decals commemorating the 22nd Anniversary of the All-American. The steering wheel is Derby issue. Interior details are estimated, as I have no photos of or information on them. The livery shows the car's sponsor, Warren Tribune Chronicle, and the driver's name. Dimensions (estimated) Overall length - 78 1/2' Overall width - 34 1/2' (note: regulation standard) Overall height - 22 1/2' Wheelbase - 64 1/4' Body width - 15' Ground clearance - 4' Cockpit opening length - 22 1/2' Championship wheelset no. - 54 #AASBD #Akron #All_American #Bill_Wrigley #boîte_à_savon #caisse_à_savon #gravity_racer #seifenkiste #Soap_Box_Derby #Warren #ソープボックス
