Made this because the Quest 2 strap arms barely move and are really stiff making it hard putting the headset on and taking off with the DAS. Decided to make it work more like it does with the Vive/Vive Pro and move more freely. The Das just snaps onto the posts so can rotate on the post similar to the Vive headset.
I made a similar adapter for Vive Pro to DAS and works very well.
There is a possibility for the DAS to pop loose from the post accidentally if you hold the headset by the side strap of the DAS, but I find that unlikely to happen as I always grab the headset from the top and/or back of the DAS strap. And even if it does the top strap will still hold and can just pop the DAS back on the post.
After removing the supports from the Quest attaching side, you will need to use a hot hair dryer on the side you removed the supports making it pliable before attaching to Quest 2 strap arms. Needs to be quite warm to make it bend the same way the arms are. About 30-40 seconds with my hair dryer on hot. Avoid getting the post part that the DAS attaches to hot.
I don't really intend to do more work on this unless it gives me problems.
There are two versions. One where the DAS attaches at the end of the Quest 2 arm and one that attaches in the middle. The one that attaches in the middle allows the quest arms to be up so that tightening happens more at forehead level.
Personally I suggest going with the adapter with peg in the middle to fit the most head sizes. The one on the end may look better but will not fit extra large heads.
I remixed from one of the Pimax to DAS adapters https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3285729
and a Quest 2 arm adapterhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4623302
