Real-world build from a few years ago based around asian OpenBuilds style wheels in routed V grooves on phenolic resin rails. CNC cut cabinet. NEMA 17 steppers with GT2 belts and pulleys. NEMA 17 with 1/2" ACME lead and real Delrin anti-backlash nut on Z. Generic MK8 extruder. SKR controller, LCD2004 display, DRV8825 step modules, and 24V power supply. Weight in motion isn't an issue with the two Y axis motors. No racking in Y axis - print quality didn't change with one of the Y belts removed. Aluminum bearing trucks (the 3 XY parts are identical) milled on a CNC router. Was a very inexpensive build due to the $0 rails with 60 cent wheels and superior to any others with 8 or 10 mm rails. Strong enough to sit or stand on the X axis without damage... Smooth and quiet operation. Second favorite 3D printer build after "3D Printer 020" (also posted here on grabcad).
