The museum was founded in 1893, the same year a Country fair was held in the town of Velké Meziříčí. Museum and its collections were moved to the castle in 1948 and its exhibits were extended to include some of the furniture from the castle. The tour of the castle has two parts. The first one takes the guests through the old castle rooms. Here, guests can see among other things the personal desk of Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France; mourning-necklace of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria; or batiste handkerchief with the blood of Franz Ferdinand d'Este which was spilled in Sarajevo where the Crown Prince was assassinated. It is said that this was the first blood of the First World War. The second part of the tour takes the guests through the museum exhibitions. Here, the guests can learn more about history of roads, motorways and bridges; history of the town of Velké Meziříčí; there is a collection of cubist furniture as well as a collection of birds, minerals, etc. #castle #Muzeum_Velké_Meziříčí #Vysočina #Česká_republika
