Yellowstone Canyon Hotel

The old Canyon Hotel at Yellowstone National Park. This model is very close to the actual building, which stood from 1891 to 1960. This version of the Hotel was after its first remodel in 1901, but before it became part of the larger third Canyon Hotel in 1911. The Hotel was not very nice looking; However, it made up for its appearance by offering a very high level of service. The building was incorporated into the third Canyon Hotel in 1911 as a guest room wing, and an addition was later built onto the left side of the building in 1930. In 1958, the hotel was closed as part Mission 66, and demolition began in 1959. In 1960, the hotel burned to the ground. Today, the site is occupied by the Canyon Village Horse Corrals.
