XRace360 Quadcopter.
The XRace360 is a simple lightweight quadcopter frame in the 250mm racing class designed with Autodesks Fusion 360.
Since Quadrocopter Races become more and more popular I decided to make one to have some fun in the air. The aim is to develop a robust and slight frame which is easy to manufacture at low costs. Therefore I decided a frame, which can be lasercutted and 3D printed. It should have enought place for a FPV (First Person View) system and additional hardware like a GPS, a Telemetry transmitter and 4K Cameras. Finally a nice case and wings for the arms are in production. A stealth optic like the F-117A Nighthawk or sth. like the DJI Inspire would be awesome.
The Frame should be printed in ABS or Nylon with more than 40% Infill rate and honeycomb pattern.
Hardware of my copter:
3D printed 250mm Frame
Micro HKPilot Mega Flight Controller with Ardupilots APM 3.2 Software.
4x Multistar 2206 2150KV Baby Beast V2 Brushless Motors with
4x 12 Ampere Afro Speed Controllers (with SimonK Firmware)
4x 5030 5 inch Composite or Carbon Propellers
FrSky Reciever (Rx) with Telemetry port
?x 1300mAh - 1800mAh 3S Zippy LiPo Battery
Additional HW
LEA-6H GPS with Compass
915Mhz Telemetry Kit
5,8G Video Transmission System (FPV) with Cloverleaf antennas and ground station (i.e. FPV Goggles)
GoPro Hero Camera
Flashing Lights
and more
With this Hardware one is also able to let this copter fly fully autonomous. Setting up waypoints or a "follow me" function is available. The copter comes with nice features like RTL (return to launch) and loiter mode.
Finally there are more cool pros for a small racing copter like transportability and speed.
More facts:
My measured weight before the flight with all components assembled (without additional hw) is just 460 gramms.
The costs for the electonical parts needed is around 200EUR.
The flight time is about minimum 3 minutes up to 10 min. (calculated with a 1300mAh battery from acrobatic flight to hover mode)
The calculated maximum speed is around 70 km/h with at least a 10m/s climb rate.
I am using the Turnigy 9XR Radio with a FrSky DJT Module and Bluetooth.
