A modern twist on gym equipment.

The Xpad uses a quick release cam locking feature. The moulded handle has a cam feature which when pushed into the locked position, compresses and locks the barbell. The cam feature has a slight return on it when locked to prevent the handle releasing through movement of the exercise.

The main parts of the product are made out of die cast zinc alloy or glass filled nylon. The pad which sit on the lower half of the users back is padded and made out of perforated leather. The padding also has a cut out section down the centre to remove pressure from the spine.

Ive tried to bring a unique and quick method of fixing while bringing a modern twist to gym equipment.

- REVISION 2
I have updated the outer clamping part which is now attached via 4 bolts from the under side of the plate and then are covered by the padding. This enabled me to have a more secure fitting.

I have also increased the rubber thickness on the grips to accommodate the smaller diameter barbells - this mean it would be a snug fit at the small size but a tit fit at the larger size - this would work by the rubber compressing more on large diameters.

I have also done a quick FEA on the top outer clamp which would be taking the majority of the 1500lbs load. I used Die cast Zinc alloy and a glass filled nylon. Both materials are extremely suitable for this load and could easily handle 5x more.

At this moment i am unsure on the dimensions of the pad which sits on the lower back - this will be updated if specifications are released for the size of pad.
