This is a Xiangqi with double sided pieces, one side traditional Chinese (A), the other one occidental(B). The pieces allow westerners to easier learn the Chinese symbols by flipping only a few pieces to their traditional side (D).
The OpenSCAD file relies on SVG drawings of both styles. You can chose between one or double sided pieces with or without ring. The ring is necessary for double sided pieces. Parameters:
$fn=50;
th = 5; //Overall thickness
gr = 0.5; //Groove thickness
doublesided = 1; //Set to "1" if you wish a double sided set or to "0" if not.
traditional = 1; //Indicates which set will be on top. "1" for traditional and "0" for western.
ring = 1; //"1" Render ring or "0" do not.
It comes with two different laser cut boards (370mm x 407mm). One with single lines (A) and a cut through version (B/C) which allows to colour the grid (C) and put it back together. The latter version needs two planks. Alternatively the second version may be engraved
Needs two color changes if double sided or only one if one sided.
The lower side is bridged and of lesser quality than the top side. You may turn them around to your prefered side. Choose wisely. (E)
The full OpenSCAD>STL output yields the black pieces on the right and the red ones on the left.
Issues:
Depending on filament and printer some small lower side details won't stick (F) and printing output might need to be broken down in smaller batches. If everything fails the pieces may be printed in half and glued together.
