The Octagon box shape makes for a minimal footprint for the Estes Proto X and is sized so that the quad feet sit perfectly on the base without extra supports. The props should be lined up in the correct position before placing the casing on top. The base when flipped over makes for a great landing pad as well. I have also sized a version for the Estes Dart or the appropriate quadcopters of the same size.
