Indonesia has a lot of unique culture, like wayang. Wayang is a culture and art that mostly developed in Java. Wayang is one of UNESCO cultural heritage. But according to http://www.kompasiana.com/lusiaarumingtyas/wayang-kulitku-kini_552aeab6f17e617653d6240e among 20 student, only 5 of them that know about wayang show. This condition may cause wayang to be forgotten someday. While as we live in Yogyakarta, they are at least 3 million tourist that visit our province each year. Each tourist will buy a souvenir as a reminderor present. Most of the tourist will buy keychain as a souvenir.
So based on that fact, we tried to remake the wayang character in keychain form.We hope that as they have this wayang keychain, they will have a curiosity about the story and search about them so the people here will remember about wayang again. Also most of the wayang souvenir doesn’t have detail in their shape. By the help of 3D printing technology, an artwork like this wayang keychain can be produce with high quality with a lot of detail. People will give more attention. We hope that they will like the design, bring the product most of the time (because it’s a keychain), get curious, and search about the character. So at least they will reconignize their keychain as a wayang. This product can be used as a pendant too.
The design that we choose is Hanoman and Punokawan. Hanoman is the character from Ramayana story. Hanoman is a character that very famous in our city. Punokawan consist of four different character. First character is Semar, the wise one, Bagong, Petruk, and Gareng.
We also made a survey about the product here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Xduxc8P1Kut0stcwDGtmmotDtn5OL-a13pB2pvo5meE/viewform. The result is 37,5% of the respondents like Ramayana and 15,4% responden like Punokawan wayang




This keychain can be printed with polyjet method. Polyjet will produce a product with highest quality than the other method, consider that wayang has a lot of detailed design that make it diferent from another. This product represent the 3D printer’s well known speciality. The prototype have been made by Stratasys 3D objet machine using verowhite and support material at UAJY (where we study industrial engineering now).This prototype can be use directly or as a master to make a mold to make metal keychain for mass production.
