'you shall fly a formation and escort a tabby gunship to a death goddess blimp so that it can take out its guns and rocket pods. if you succeed the kingfisher can get closse enough to destroy it' and with that me and my formation left for the blimp. about 25 minutes later we had reached the airship and were proceeding to shoot at it. no wonder we needed to get rid of the rocket pods there were tons of them! but then, one must have scimed my cockpits roof, becuase in a blast of red light the roof was gone! i looked down at the HUD, the gieger counter was of the charts! i said over the radio ' ive suffered near lethal damge, i need to break off of formation' and with that i started heading back for the kingfisher. about half way there the ion turbine engine stoped functioning, i thought to myself 'just great, i have a broken engine AND no canopy roof' but luckily i made it back to the ship. the engineer who was fixing the fighter said that a peice of shrapnal had cut open the engine. he said that i was lucky to be alive, the explosion alone should have detonated the whole ship!
