If you own a Duplicator 6 you may be only too aware that the cooling when printing PLA is rather inefficient. This is a simple mod to attach a 50x50x15 blower fan in place of the existing 40mm axial fan.
The bracket attaches to the underside of the heatsink using the 3 existing holes. Remove the existing axial fan and bracket and attach this new bracket using 3 x M3x8mm bolts WITHOUT the white spacers. When attached the bracket will extend forward in a circle. Attach the new nozzle to the blower fan and then attach the 50mm blower fan to the underside of the bracket using 2 of the existing bolts removed in the earlier step. with the exhaust facing the extruder heat block and nozzle. These bolts do not require a nut and will create their own thread in the bracket holes. Route the cable to the top of the extruder and connect, observing polarity of original fan,
That's it. Now enjoy the added cooling offered by a blower fan as opposed to the inefficient axial fan.
Note: Due to slight variations in the exhaust outlet size on different make blower fans, if you find the exhaust to be slightly too small or too large then simply adjust the scaling in the required axis by a few % points as required in your slicing software.
Special thanks to Martin Cooper (https://www.facebook.com/martin.cooper.9066) for the design assistance with the exhaust.
