VAZ-2107 Zhiguli (LADA 2107) is a Soviet and Russian rear—wheel drive car of the II group of small class with a sedan body, one of the latest models of classics, produced at JSC Volga Automobile Plant/AvtoVAZ from March 11, 1982 to April 17, 2012[2]. History of creation
In the early 1970s, the AvtoVAZ Design Bureau began work on creating a second generation of rear-wheel drive passenger cars designed to replace the VAZ-2101, VAZ-2102, 2103 models. Just as in the case of previous models, it was planned to create a car with a sedan body as standard (model 2105), a car with a cargo and passenger body of the station wagon type (2104) and a car with a sedan body of a higher segment (2107). The first running prototypes of the VAZ-2107 were built in 1978. Serial production of the 2107 model started in March 1982. In 2006, the entire classic AVTOVAZ family was rebranded (with the exception of the 2106 model, which was discontinued that year). Thus, the VAZ 2107 Lada became known as LADA 2107. VAZ-2107 is a modified luxury version of the VAZ—2105 car, which, in turn, originates from the Fiat 124, a small family sedan of the 1966 model (winner of the 1967 European Car of the Year competition). VAZ-2107 was exported under the names Lada Nova, Lada Riva, Lada Signet, Lada 1500.[3] The designer of many cars of the classic family is Vladimir Stepanov. From 2002 to 2012, VAZ-21070 (modification of VAZ-2107) was produced on the territory of Ukraine (LuAZ, ZAZ and KrASZ[4]). In May 2008, the LADA 2107 was assembled at the Argun plant Pishmash in the Chechen Republic[5]. Since March 2011, the LADA 2107 production has been mastered by the Izhevsk Automobile Plant. In April 2012, the AvtoVAZ concern under the management of Igor Komarov decided to finally stop production of the classic LADA 2107 sedan at the IzhAvto plant. This decision was made due to the greatly reduced demand for this model, as well as due to the acceleration of work in Izhevsk to prepare production for the release of Lada Granta. The last LADA 2107 sedan rolled off the assembly line of the IzhAvto plant on April 17, 2012[6]. LADA 2107 was assembled in Egypt until the beginning of 2014[7]. In 2014, the VAZ-2107 was finally discontinued. The production of the 2104 station wagon, unified with the sedan in terms of the power plant, exterior and interior of the front part of the body, continued until September 17, 2012[8]. In March 2017, the analytical agency Autostat conducted a study[9], according to the results of which the LADA 2107 sedan became the most popular passenger car in Russia. In 2012, the VAZ-2107 was finally discontinued. This model was controlled by 1.75 million Russians at the time of the study[10]. car sport racing sport car auto race race tire formula 1 extreme sport tuning tuning motorsport rassia transport vehicle part suv coupe rim tyre 2012 vehicle other
