A decorative, and truly representative building, located at the famous Berlin Boulevard 'Unter den Linden'. Built between 1890-1915, an outstanding example for late German Historism. Facade texture by the famous Sim City 4 model creator peterycristi. The population exlosion after the unification of the German Empire in 1871 forced Berlin to grow. Houses in Historism and Art Nouveau, decorative objects of representation in times of economic concurrence, were built in masses. This is one of them. After many destructions in WWII, the city got its most serious punch in the back by modern architecture and the Cold War: The number of 'Entstuckungen' (“dis-stucco-cations”), both in East- and West Berlin, grew rapidly, in the end, about 95 per cent (!) of the historical houses still standing lost their decoration. The construction of the Berlin Wall stroke a blank lane through the former capital. In the West, once beautiful avenues were demolished for expressways and malls, In the East, the city lost its historical heart, including churches, old living houses, partially from he 13th century, and even the Stadtschloss (City Castle), being replaced by a desert of concrete. But still after the German Reunification, the brilliant Berlin we had 90 years ago will never come back. But is it lost completely? No. It becamea shadow, living in the very few houses that survived the unfavourablilities of history - like this one. #19th_century #20th_century #Art_Nouveau #Berlin #Denkmalschutz #Deutsches_Kaiserreich #German_Empire #Historism #Historismus #Jahrhundert #Jugendstil #Neobarock #representative #repräsentativ #Unter_den_Linden
