UHPC Fixed Gantry Mini CNC Machine

I built this cnc machine because i had a lot of time to waste. It is very compact, suitable for my tiny basement, in footprint measures only 630x630mm. The working area is 350x250x150mm and can machine light metals such as aluminum or brass with very good results.

The structure was made of ultra high performance concrete with a special recipe that gives at the finished product an elastic modulus of about 80 GPa, a bit more than aluminum, and great vibration dampening characteristics.

I used JMC 180w servo motors with 2:1 belt reduction, in hindsight, i would use 400w servos without reduction to get faster rapid.

Linear rails are Hiwin 20mm with ZA preload. C7 Ballscrew 1605 also Hiwin with 0 backlash. If you want more precision you can get C5 or you can map the ballscrew with controller like LinuxCNC or EdingCNC.

Spindle is a chinese ATC iso20 with 1.8 kW. This structure can handle more power but i don't need that.

To set the geometry of the axis i used a precision granite square, so the squareness and straightness are within 0.01 mm.
