This is the housing for the UART PROFI SHIFTER device on Tindie
( Shortlink: https://www.tindie.com/products/23511/ )
A little bit about the device :
USB UART PROFI Shifter - 8 channel Bidirectional Level Shifter Tool + Voltage source with the ability to connect to UART: all 8 UART channels are supported.
5V <-> 3V3 <-> 1V8 level-shifting channels are connected all the time. It is very easy to build such a configuration: SoC has 1V8 output so 1V8 connector will be used for SoC ; 5V from USB source provides 5V voltage together with 5V UART Rx and Tx, oscilloscope could be connected to the 3V3 10-pin connector to monitor the data.
There are 3x Voltage Rails onboard (max 1A) : 5V, 3V3 and 1V8. All of them accessible at the same time.
Audio-Jacks onboard have only RX / TX / GND / VCC connections (4 pins) so you can use them as alternative connector for fast plug purposes.
Option 1 (example): You can connect or disconnect level shifter channels to UART channels so you can use 2 channels (RX and TX) from UART (U7 configuration) and the other 6 channels would be only for shifting the level.
Option 2 (example): you can connect 4 channels to UART (Rx, Tx, CTS, RTC) and disconnect the other 4 channels from UART with U7 so those channels will act like independent level shifters ( J7, J8, J9 connectors).
Option 3 (example): you need just 3 voltages (5V, 3V3, and 1V8) and you have the ability to measure current with special current-state connectors from the bottom of the PCB ( I(x) );
This tool is a Must for DIY-makers , rapid prototyping needs and for UART level shifting from different sources.
P.S. Also special housing designed (please find the link below) so you can download the model and print it by yourself to avoid shortcuts during usage.
