I wanted a way to illuminate my 3D Printed Lithophanes but didn't want the lights\leds to be permanently on so i came up with an idea of using a cheap Chinese Arduino Nano v3.0 clone with a pir motion sensor to trigger the timing cycle of two bright white leds with a trigger on time of 5 or 10 mins, so i designed something to house everything in an enclosure with an integrated stand for my Lithophanes and after a few designs this is it.
For those interested in Lithophanes, The Lithophane STL is made using itsLitho an online Lithophane Creator and the size Lithophane used for this holder is 0.8 to 2.8mm for the litho image depth and the size is 100mm wide by 100mm high and 3mm by 3mm frame and sliced using latest version of Cura, printed with 0.4mm nozzle with printing widths set to 0.4mm at 1.6mm layer height, infill set to 99% and walls set to 9 with top and bottom left at 3, print speeds are 30mms except first layer which is 18mms, also printed in the Y axis to reduce wobble and a raft of 20mm to hold securely on the bed.
Components Used:
1x Arduino Nano V3.0 (you will have to cut the 6x SPI header pins off to fit into enclosure)
1x AM312 IR Human Motion Detector
2x M3x12 Screws
2x Ultra Bright White LED 3mm 3v
Electrical Connections:
Pir vin pin to Arduino 5v pin
Pir gnd pin to Arduino gnd pin
Pir signal pin to Arduino D2 pin
Led +v lead (long Leg) to Arduino D13 pin
Led -gnd lead (short leg) to Arduino gnd pin
Arduino Code to use is in one of the photo's and requires uploading to the Arduino Nano V3.0 via usb with Arduino IDE software, the timing in the code is set to 600000 (10mins) which is 6000per second or 60000per min so you can set this to whatever on time you like...
Hope you enjoy this project...
