transport project by planetary gear train
In my project, the straps between the cylinder and the domes of the tank
are fitted with teeth with straight teeth on each crown with two axes at
30° from the verticality of the base and a tapped hole to receive an arm
with a tire rim notched for lunar or Martian soil
and an electric motor equipped with a pinion adaptable to the outer teeth
of the crown / outer rolling drive ring.
The connection between the toothed strapping and the outer rolling ring is
made by 3 or 4 spur gears (here on model 4) therefore by epicyclic gear
train whose planetary gear (strap ring and the tank) remains stationary
thanks to the arms on the ground which serve as anti-rotation stops. The
planet wheels and the ring gear turn around the fixed sun gear by means of
the motor pinion meshed with the toothing of each ring gear.
By simply removing the screws/axle and the motorized arm, this frees the
entire planetary gear set if it has to be removed. The entire assembly is
removed in a single assembly and only the planetary tooth strapping remains
on the tank. Or remove only the motorized arm is left this ring around the
module if more useful, but reusable at any time for this tank or another.
To move forward or backward in a straight line put the two motors in
rotation and to turn, simply vary the speed between the two motors or even
turn around on the spot if the wheels of the
arms are changed to "idle" wheels.
The geared motors and motors with these pinions and the large teeth of each
outer crown will give very high torques for the transport of the tank, even
heavy, and even on significant slopes on the ground of the moon or Mars.
