Originally known as 'Tralee South' to identify it from the 'Tralee North' station which was used for freight, Casement Station was opened on the 18th of July 1859. Originally a line ran from Mallow, westward, branching south to Kenmare, and west to Killarney, to Tralee, and to Valencia. From Tralee a line also ran along the Dingle peninsula. Another branch ran from Tralee through Listowel to Limerick city. Now only one line remains (The killarney/mallow line and onwards to Dublin). It was owned and operated by the Great Southern and Western Railway, now CIE More info: http://www.dodingle.com/pages/dingle_tralee_railway.html http://homepage.eircom.net/~lartiguemonorail/
