Be and Stay Creative...!
We present a toy-brick based tabletop tensometer for research and education.
What’s so great about it?
Easy to make and use
LEGO typical instructions make building the frame very easy
All building instructions laid out on this website
Open-Source
All parts are common and available from large distributors
In total the TTT can be built for around 700 EUR – significantly cheaper than a commercial solution
Easy to extend
Simple measurement solutions
A full graphic UI programmed in LabView controls the whole setup and analyzes the data
Measurement of stress/strain and resistance/strain progression
Evaluation of static material properties (Young’s modulus, Tear strength, Fracture…)
If you don’t need it any more, tear it apart and construct something even more awesome!
Key Parameters and Accuracy
Stretching velocity: 50-1300um/s
Tensile Force: +-10N, +-50N with an accuracy of 30mN and 150mN respectively
Resistance: 6 measurement ranges in order of magnitude from 0-1MOhm with and accuracy of 0.1% of the selected range
Sledge travelling distance: 30mm with an measurement accuracy of 100um
