My 3 year old daughter picked all of our Halloween costumes from her favorite movie The Wizard of Oz. The rest of the family got easy to buy costumes but I got the Tin Man and just was not happy with a poor selection of Character costumes I could find online. So I decided to make one from scratch. Used really simple materials like cardboard, paint, hot glue, paper fasteners, some old clothes, and a ski mask.
What really set this off was the accessory pieces I was able to model in Fusion 360 and print on my CR-10 printer. Even though the costume was made out of cardboard simply creating and printing the rivets to line the seams and to cover the paper fasteners really brought this character to life. People actually asked me how I bent the metal for this costume. Was proud to present the first true to movie Tin Man heart to Thingiverse as well as the custom nose piece that was secured to my nose using Spirit Gum and covered with face makeup.
I had a hard time finding a funnel that would fit my head so created a close to movie prop replica in fusion as well. This was a really fun project pulled off in just a 7 nights (Mostly Painting). To see the look on my little Dorthy's face when she saw us all in costume was priceless. So proud I could make this happen for her and am thrilled to share with you guys. Enjoy.
