The Tempel of Ids on the Sea dike

in 1993, after they hade finished to make the sea dike on delta level ( 10 m. above sea level.) The office of a dike-reeve ‘Waterschap Fryslan’, gave Ids Willemsma the job to place a monument at the sea dike at Marrum. It became therefore this diketempel. The roof has the same dimensions as the old sea dike and the grass is also originating from the old sea dike. Ids has as it were raised the old sea dike on twelve pillars, which stand for the twelve provinces of the Netherlands. In the beginning the local population were very negative concerning the ‘Tempel’. but it has naturalised entirely now. At any time when you come to the ‘Tempeltje’, there will allways be someone, also visiting the ‘Tempel’. At this moment there been, after fourteen years procede, seven large windturbines placed in the direct surroundings of the ‘Tempel’. These destroy the beautiful landscape here completely and withdraw themselves all attention of the ‘Tempel’. Ids have said.
