In a world of noise and distraction, experience tranquility and true silence through The Silent Gallery. Silence here is initiated, opposing the constant, hovering and inescapable sounds of our everyday lives. The goal of this gallery is to experience how silence can have as much of an impact on human experience, feeling, visual stimuli, and connection to the world around us, as sound does. Silence helps to reduce stress and tension and allows your body the opportunity to replenish your other senses without disruption and distraction. Please remove your shoes (the floors will vary from space to space, from grass to a lush, shaggy rug) and move through the space as you wish. Experience silence in nature, maternal connection, mental illness and love through art and space, and prepare for your mind to be stimulated yet rejuvenated. There are three wall texts in each room to take note of. On one you will find information about the artists and artwork in the gallery room. On the second one, you will find information about the space and the connection to the art pieces. On the third, you will find “Suggested Experience”. Here, we have provided for you some suggestions about how to move through the space, what tactile stimuli we suggest you experience or what to do with your body to get the full effect of the gallery. We hope you take in all information from all your other senses aside from hearing as you travel through the gallery and find your personal connection to the images and space around you.
