This is my second design for the competition, The Malayan Tiger was the first one. This design, are more focus towards the simplicity of the design and maintenance ability. This design is based on sliding physic. The soil are expected to be sliding through into the drum, the design are expected to be filled almost 95% of the internal volume.
During loading, the soil will slide into the drum and rotate and eventually falls into holder that should be mounted to the drum, that is shape like a snail. This will up hold the soil that has flow into the drum. The main collector drum are separated between other segmentation by a connection panel. This panels sits in between the segment. In the event of unloading, the segment should be able to separate, and unloaded easily.
During holding, the drum is design to be sit upright without the intake pointing downward, as the drum are design to hold the soil inside using gravity effect. The gravity modeled was 1.62 m/s2 for lunar condition. The design is about 12.618 kg using the Carbon Fiber 398 GPa material.
The simulation shows, a quick demo of how the drum will collect the soil, and the simulation was simulated in Lunar gravity.
