This project aims to highlight the lack of knowledge of the population about the food they eat. Globalization has caused dramatic negative effects in different origins with industrial production, consequences such as the fashion victim in factories in Bangladesh, or in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for having the largest export of coltan show political and social issues when something is desired by most of the population. The main goal of this project is to make visible the complex ecosystem and the socioeconomic implications of the mass production chain in food consumption. Specifically, the exponential consumption of avocados has caused a network of drug traffickers such as the Knights Templar who, taking advantage of the producers, impose taxes on exported avocado and cultivated hectare. Carrying out kidnappings and murders if their expectations are not satisfied.
In Michoacán - the region of Mexico that exports the major quantity of avocados - farmers live in fear of losing their family because of their businesses.

The project - through product design and a physical and digital communication campaign - creates a social weapon that visibilizes the problem and seeks to translate those emotions into an activist educational process for raise awareness.

The resolution of this activist campaign against the gentrification of food consumption is focused on an end-user context and is formalized with an identity device with original Aztec values, which serves to make some holes in the avocado. These perforations are not visible to the naked eye in the surface but the oxidizing action stamps a mark through the whole pulp and bone, regarding reminiscence of Aztec’s human sacrifices, like a tribute to a greater good. At the same time, this brand is represented in a sticker located in the establishments that sells these avocados, and in the urban space of Barcelona to send subliminal messages to consumers. Finally, the object and sticker are open source, being able to download the original files and through 3D printing develop - with the materials that each person chooses - a personalized copy to collaborate in the campaign.
Parallel to this last phase, agreements are being concluded with different companies to facilitate access to 3D printing and labeling, reducing part of the total price to contribute in this social action.

Raising awareness is not a definable goal, it is a start to satisfy producers willings.
They don't want to stop selling avocados! Don't stop buying, but be aware of what you consume, and if you see like this case something negligent, they need our support, and report to competent authorities is the best thing we can do so international relations and social media would add pressure to a government that is already corrupted.
