Built in 1910, this industrial warehouse building at 1735 North Ashland Avenue has become a Chicago landmark along the Kennedy Expressway. It has featured different murals from time to time depicting events in the Chicago area and clothing ads. For example, during the Chicago Bulls 1996 NBA Playoffs, the building displayed the faces of the players with interchangeable hair for Dennis Rodman who often changed his hair color. The idea to use the exterior of the building for murals was by Bigsby & Kruthers clothing store who originally owned the building and used the exterior for advertising. The Bigsby & Kruthers billboards were once considered a solid Chicago tradition. The murals became famous for their depictions of celebrities (generally athletes) modeling the clothing. When Bigsby & Kruthers went under in 2000, Lasalle Bank leased the exterior of the building for $3 million. Bank of America took over the lease in 2008.
