The Batcave (12.2016 edit)

Deep beneath Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne hides a dark secret. This is my idea of how the Batcave would appear, a series of concrete modules and steel pylons suspended above the water. The idea is meant to represent Batman's persona, a character with a brutalist regimentation and order poised to fall into the dark and become consumed by his 'purpose'. Generally lighting is minimal, found in strips that highlight walkways or the shape of the room and the technology is advanced (using touch screens, glass HUDS and holograms) but cemented in an unflattering structure. The lift is the main access from above, requiring a recognised palm print to work along with voice command at point of entry and at some point on the way down. Failure to comply will release a gas to knock out any intruder. Module #1 immediately holds the Bat Computer (requiring another palm print recognition) and a 3D scanner/printer to replicate items for investigation or use. A Green Lantern Power Ring has also been recovered, lacking power to be used by necessary for Batman to research and find weaknesses within the Sinestro Corps ability. The lab keeps most of its equipment beneath the worktops. The infirmary can be quickly grappled to from below... its equipment is stored in the walls and floor. The vault is a significant place, where Bruce Wayne ceases to exist and Batman comes to life. For this purpose, Wayne has his own floor within the vault for him to perform his ritual of suiting up in solace. He's past and current suits are kept in individual chambers with other spare chambers awaiting the next upgrades. In the floor below, the suits of past Robins, the current Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing are held in separate chambers. Additionally, Jason Todd's Robin suit is kept in a special chamber to act as a memorial and a reminder to the younger members of the Bat Family that nobody is immortal. Both floors in the Vault have an open end allowing each person to glide down to the Raft and grapple back up. The raft holds the Batmobile (which I envisage as being sparsely used due to the impracticality of driving through city traffic) and the bikes while the Batwing is kept on a landing platform. While all vehicles enter and leave via the main tunnel, frequently travelling back to the same spot would raise suspicion as to where the Bat hangs his cowl. Thus, I imagine there to be a number of other caves scattered around Gotham, connected by a maze of caverns back to the Batcave. These caverns are traversed by automated platforms that move once authorised by voice command and palm print recognition.
