Following British Airways' 102nd anniversary this month I decided to give a little tribute for BOAC. But first of all thanks to 707, SketchVC10 and unknown user for the aircraft. Aircraft: Comet 1 DC-4 707 747 Wright Flyer Reg.: G-AWNA G-ALYP G-APFE G-ALHK N13938WR History: British Airways starts off as AT&T in 1919. They have 8 Aero DH 16s. AT&T and 3 others merge for Imperial Airways. Imperial had a large fleet of Short Empires. But Imperial merges for my favorite airline which is, BOAC!!! :D From 1939 until the '50s, BOAC had a small fleet of 314 Clippers and a large fleet of Sunderlands and Sandringhams. In 1952 G-ALHK took the future Queen of the UK and Prince Phillip rode G-ALHK for a commonwealth tour but the king dies and she returns as Queen. In 1960 BOAC starts 707 operations. G-AWNA later is delivered in mid-1970. In 1974 BOAC becomes British Airways. Happy 102nd anniversary BA!
