Tannery pirn on pöördpind, mille tekitab Gerono lemniskaadi pöörlemine ümber telje. Pinna geodeetilised jooned on kinnised, nendeks on kõverdunud 8 ja ellips. Tannery pirni geodeetilised jooned on algebralised kõverad ja neil kõigil on sama pikkus.
Lisatud pdf failis on selgitavad täpsustused pinna kohta.
The creator of the Tannery pear (in 1892) is the French mathematician Jules Tannery (24.03.1848 - 11.12.1910), who made a major contribution to the history and philosophy of mathematics and to pedagogy in general.
The tannery bulb is a rotating surface caused by the rotation of the Gerono lemniscate about an axis. The geodetic lines of the surface are closed, they are curved 8 and ellipse. The geodetic lines of a tannery bulb are algebraic curves and all have the same length.
The attached pdf file contains explanatory details about the surface.
