.05 mm for resolution is likely NOT necessary. I just wanted it to be as precise as possible and work backwards from there. If you have success with lower resolution prints of this file, I'd love to hear about it.
This is a very thin print (0.035"). They are the same thickness as the commercial steel moonclips as to not interfere with the operation of the revolver.
After printing, wrap some thin 220+ sand paper around a Bic pen or something similar in diameter and gently smooth the insides that support the neck of the cartridge. Be careful not to remove material from the narrow part of the clip that holds the cartridge in place. The cartridges should wiggle a little once in place. This is necessary for variations in neck diameters between manufactures and also for ease of dropping in and removing the loaded moon clip from the cylinder.
These are meant to be disposable. Use at your own risk. Much easier to load/unload by hand compared to steel moonclips.
This is a collaborative project between my brother and I. I sent him a scanned image of a factory steel moonclip and the necessary dimensions. He then used that as a template layer and created the file using CAD. After only 4 iterations of tweaking, we got it right.
