This really is a work in progress and i'm not 100% sure that sharing these files is super useful to others other than showing my working progress, but in the spirit of openness i thought i'd put it out there / here.
So my current project (as an artist in residence at Maker Media Labs in SF) is to make some headway on my 3D printing architectural reference book about the early ornament of celebrated architect Louis H. Sullivan. I'm working with City of Chicago Cultural Historian Tim Samuelson scanning from his collection of early Sullivan ornaments to produce a 3d printed book in keeping with my previous two publications Orihon and Folium.
The Sullivan book will be circular in nature, probably about 10 pages, ~9 3D scans with text and Braille notations. I'm trying to develop the book so that it will print on a standard desktop size machine 220 x 150 x 140mm build envelope but i think the page size (as indicated by one of the sample stls) is going to have to be 220 x 220mm square. I don't think doing the pages in two halves makes sense. but i'm going to give it a go later today. might as well test it out.
Here's a video of the prototype in action in it's current format ( https://youtu.be/jVr_5pxDBrc ). My next project is to figure out a way to mechanically rotate the pages via some kind of crank system. Oh and tidy up the scans, figure out the page layout, convert the text into Braille, print everything and test it all. :D
