Students' Union Building (SUB) - The Students' Union Building was funded with students' money and built in 1967 (the first Students' Union Building is the present-day University Hall). The Building is home to a food court, shops, theatre, postal outlet, and many student services and group offices. At the east of the end of the building is the Myer Horowitz Theatre, named for the ninth president of the university. This 744 seat auditorium accommodates concerts, lectures, movies, and plays. One of the largest university bookstores in Canada is located at the other end of the building. During the university's centenary this theatre hosted the Prime Ministers Conversation Series. Student-oriented services are housed in SUB, including University Health Centre, the Gateway newspaper, CJSR campus radio (FM 88.5), Student Distress Centre, and CAPS: Your U of A Career Centre. For more information, see the Students' Union website. In addition to the extensive food court on the main floor, there are two lounges: RATT (Room at the Top) and Dinwoodie. RATT, on the seventh floor, boasts a spectacular view of the campus and city. #1960s #1967 #Alberta #Edmonton #University_of_Alberta #UofA3d
