- High detail 3d model of a starfish
- Low polygon base mesh
- Fully UV textured (2048x2048px TIF maps included)
- Utilizes normal and displacement maps for maximum details
- BONUS: Seamless sand texture (JPG) included

Notes about Normal & Displacement maps:
==================================

This low polygon model utilizes high resolution, tangent based normal and displacement maps to achieve maximum visual details. Most modern game engines and 3d application support this mapping types. Please check the manual of your 3d application to learn how to apply these maps appropriately. If available, you should set the sub-polygon displacement value to 3 subdivision levels for high resolution renders.

Native format of the model however is Cinema 4D and therefore has all material attributes set up correctly. The 3ds max version also has correct normal mapping settings applied and can be rendered with full details right out-of-the-box.

If you"re using Maya, you can use Jan Sandtröms free "JS Normalmapper" plugin which is available for Maya versions 6 to 8.5 to apply the included normal map. It can be downloaded from pixero [dot] com [slash] downloads_maya [dot] html .

Even if your 3d software doesn"t support normal or sub-polygon displacement maps, you can still use the colored, low polygon base mesh of the model (with less details). The geometry of the model has perfect edge loops which also allows you to subdivide it using common mesh-smooth / subdivision surfaces algorithms.

Texture notes:
===========

The textures for this model are being kept in a separate archive called seastar.tex.zip. Please also download this archive and unpack the contents to the same destination as the scene file(s).
