KIT that can be used to reproduce the DISCO T-shirt as seen on Star Trek: Discovery.
The "DISCO" text is as close to the original as I could come, and the Star Trek symbol is molded after the original.
I printed the two files in regular PLA, 0.2mm height, and then ironed them on a T-Shirt with the iron at max settings and a sheet of non-stick cooking paper between the plastic and the iron. You need to be kinda careful because too little iron and the parts won't stick to the shirt and will curl in on themselves; but if you press too much or too long, you might end up smudging or deforming the prints (the "D" in the second design with the correct "C" did warp, as you can see from the picture).
Ultimately, it boils down to three factors:
1) Print a thin layer, 0.2 or 0.3mm, no raft, and peel it off the bed very carefully. Printing on painter's tape really helps!
2) Place all parts on a T-Shirt and place non-stick baking paper above the plastic. The iron should never, EVER touch plastic parts.
3) Heat the PLA with the iron so that it melts into the fabric, but not too much that it smears or deforms.
The only downside to this process is that PLA isn't very much flexible so, when it cools down, it's quite hard. If you do big designs, they might be uncomfortable to wear. Also, washing / re-ironing the shirt will certainly be a problem.
From what I've seen / researched, flexible filaments might be better suited for this kind of job; I'm waiting to receive some samples to try them.
Other than that, enjoy your DISCO t-shirt!
