Do you need a product or solution that allows at-home students to complete their work with ease? Well, do I have the ting for you. My design can help virtual learners by providing them with a more organized workspace, at-home students will better be able to navigate their workspace and better utilize their time. What issues does it overcome? My design incorporates a weighted base so that if a student were to use this on any surface (bed, couch, table, etc.) and it be hit it bumped into the device would not tip over and spill all the contents. To ensure that as much weight as possible is centralized at the base I cut weight from the top by cutting holes into flat surfaces like the walls. This also reduces the print time of the model and the amount of filament used. If I could redesign this, I would add a space for a phone or mobile device since most students have or need one for online work. 3D printing would help strengthen my design by allowing me to create this project and future projects to a certain degree of accuracy that can't be achieved from other methods. It would also speed up the prototyping phase of the engineering design process for me and my fellow classmates.
