If you own a shade or awning or curtain controlled by a Somfy remote control, and would like to control it from anywhere in the world. This is the gadget for you.
It is a simple box with a servo that pushes the buttons. In my case it controls shades in my house. The heart is an Adafruit HAZZAH ESP8266 breakout board. https://www.adafruit.com/product/2471
This board allows you to use a web browser to control it.
The "pusher" is glued using 5 minute epoxy to the servo horn. It is powered with a 5 volt wall wart. The clip is used to hold the servo in. I use a clip because the servo needs to come out in order to put the "Somfy remote" into the unit. The HAZZAH is fastened to the box using double sided sticky tape.
Once built and running you will have to determine the ip address of the HAZZAH and then use a web browser to access the web page designed into the code that is embedded into the HAZZAH. This lets you test it by turning an LED on and off. If you want to use the unit outside of your local area. You will have to do port forwarding on your wireless router. I did the port forwarding and I am able to raise and lower my shades from anywhere in the world.
I have been using this for 2 years now.
