This solar finder may be attached to a standard hotshoe of a camera. It helps finding the sun especially with long focal length lenses. The sun shines on a circular screen through a small hole. This creates a dot of light on the screen. Move the camera until the dot is close to the center of the screen. Then the camera is roughly pointed at the sun.
The long separator between finder and hotshoe helps with long diameter lenses and solar filters.
I recommend using bright filaments (e.g. white). Then the screen will be translucent, making pointing the camera at the sun even easier than by looking through the holes at the sides. See pictures for both ways of using it.
