A Soap Box Derby racer and Local Champion, designed, constructed and driven to victory in 1970 by Richard L. Stanley of Anderson, IN. Named 'Infinity,' this highly polished, wedge-shaped car is a low, recumbent (laydown) design over a short wheelbase. It sports an aerodynamic headrest fairing that enclosed the driver's helmet, and a cockpit tonneau. The steering is a 'shotgun' design that was popular at the time. Rich's achievement allowed him to race a month later at the World Championships in Akron, Ohio. This model is created from color photographs of the car from multiple angles. My thanks goes to Mr. Stanley, who was kind enough to provide me with many of them as well as accurate measurements of the car. Restored a decade ago, it is displayed proudly at the Stanley home. The model is fitted with the official All-American Championship wheels, painted gold for 1970 (wheel set #154). It is presented here in its All-American livery, showing the sponsor, car number and Rick's name.
