This cubesat uses a carbon fiber reinforced polyamide SLS material such as Windform XT.

Here's how it is optimized for additive manufacturing:

-simple construction: the frame consists of 4 parts and 10 bolts

-3d printed geometry houses all frame fastening nuts, nothing screwed directly into printed part

-all hole features needed to mount electronics are designed into the 3 sintered frame components

-3d printed features were added to minimize the amount of fasteners needed: grooves in frame parts, and wings that hold in solar panels

Benefits to users over a traditional cubesat frame:

-base piece accommodates kill switches, separation springs, circuit board mounts, and the rest of the frame can even be removed while cables are connected to the main board

-reversible top insert and open sides allow for many customization options

-sheet metal frame insert has no welds and a custom solution can easily be fabricated for special applications
