This extruder is a much improved extruder and X carriage for (pre-Prusa i3) RepRap 3D printers. While you can use each individually, they work best with each other.
Easy to thread and change filament. No need to loosen screws!
4 linear bearings for stability and repeatability.
4-screw idler block for high, uniform filament pressure.
Thick, heavy design rules and reinforcements throughout.
Beefy nut captures for all hex nuts..
Direction-indicating drive gear.
Attractive and compact.
Fits standard Groovemount (Arcol/Makergear/Prusa/E3D) hot ends.
It's easy to assemble, and accepts either a home-made hobbed bolt, or a third-party one, e.g., from here.
