The SmartrapCore printer uses GT2 belt for the Z axis, which is great, but when the printing stops, the print bed literally falls down, which can be kind of brutal.
This very simple "landing gear" extends two arms that can strongly support a rubber band. This way, when the print bed falls, the rubber band will stop the whole thing when reaching the top of the Z step motor before solid parts will hit anything.
This (not like some of my other Thingies) is not a "work in progress", it's a progress that actually works (I use it on my SmartrapCore and it really helps)! ;)
Update : as the shape of the printing plate support as changed a bit in the new (1.2) version of the SmartrapCore, I updated this landing gear's shape accordingly. So if you use the 1.2 version of the printer, make sure to use the 1.2 STL file for the landing gear as well. ;)
News (08/17/2015) : if you use Andreas L.'s new Z axis system for the SmartrapCore 1.2x (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:896556), you might be interested by the landing gear I designed for it : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:968461 ;)
