If there are other issues, please let me know and I'll correct as soon as I can.
December 19, 2017 - I just made a dual garage opener for my brother in law with an option 3 design and now am going to reprint the single garage with the option 3 single top because I think it's at a better camera angle. I personally prefer option 3 both in the single and dual garage options.
At this point I'm closing this project with option 3 being the final version but if there are suggestions or fixes, let me know and I'll see about doing an update.
Cheers.
November 9, 2017 - So the test fit works. I'm going to make a few slight changes to the files then re-post the final files. I also have the service running and it's been going strong for over 48 hours. My next step is to secure the boards in the case, secure the lid then mount and connect it to my garage door system. Once mounted I'll share pics of the mount as well as a picture of the android app screen shots.
I haven't yet, but can make a second style box for anyone running 2 garage doors.Project almost completed
October 30, 2017 - Added a second design option to keep the camera ribbon in for a cleaner look. I also noticed that the original files didn't fit well enough. I'm leaving them for others to modify, but they aren't meant for final use.
I'm printing Option 2 now and will see how well those turn out. Fingers crossed they turn out well so I can do a final high res print and get this project done.
I'm currently building a Raspberry Pi remote for my garage (code found on GitHub here https://github.com/andrewshilliday/garage-door-controller/issues/70). I have the electronics (raspberry Pi, door sensors, switch and camera) and have the device working on my desk. In order to mount it in the garage however I needed a case that would fit my needs and of course printing one makes the most sense.
I took some ideas from other cases on this site and made my own that will house all the electronics including the pi camera that will give me a view of my door to confirm what the sensor is telling me.
Once complete, I'll post some pics of the final project as well as the parts list, HTML and other code and a short video of how it wall works. For now, please use the STL files as needed and modify if required.
One thing I want to change already in the design is the Pi camera ribbon location. The final design I hope to tuck that cable in to the box for a cleaner look. Also, after test fitting the box, I may choose to change the angle of the camera ... for now it's just a guess as to what the angle should be.
