From time to time you find Silica pockets in products, these bags shouldn't be thrown away and are still usefull. It is not good for the environment and you would be surprised by its value on the open market.
Presenting 'the silica basket'. Collect bags untill basket is full and close using either toothpicks with glue or screws (diameter 2,5 mm lenght 2 cm).
Print using any material with no brim, skirt, foundation required at regular infill and extruder size. Minimal support required (weight approx 75 grams).
Uses include:
Place in a container to protect tools, paper or clothing against moisture in dank spaces
e.g. : bathroom, garage, attic, basement.
Place in front of car window to avoid window condensation from the inside.
As a giant thee bag to eliminate house Frey #TheNorthRemembers.
As an emergency reserve incase of water damaged electronics (like your phone).
Simply place the item in a plastic bag, open the basket and tear the paper bags
(beware of possible powder inside). Pour the silica pellets in the plastic bag and
hermetically seal as best as possible with tape and leave to rest for a few days untill
turning the device on.
Safety guidelines:
I am not a doctor and do not take any responsibility for anything that might occur, that being said i did do excisive research on the matter on forums and can tell you the only recorded incident was a choking hazard when trying to eat a bag. So.. Don't eat the bags, if you have small children: keep closed inside the basket using screws and don't lett them play with it as a rattle.
Do not open the bags unless specified by me to do so. Silica gel pellets are 'harmless' but Silica powder isn't. Do not grind into powder and snort it (you dumbass) or dilute in water and drink it (unless you really hate your wife /jk). Do not expose to open flame as smoke is cancerous.
To reactivate:
The pellets can absorb around 20 to 40 % its weight untill losing its function. Dry in hot sun.
For the more curacious: open up bags and place pellets in a pan on the stove for about 10 minutes or in an oven for 2 hours at 200° celsius, make new bags using coffee filter paper.
But honestly in normal conditions it would last like.. I don't know, forever?
