Want to replace that darned unbalanced cable coming out of your Shure 515 with a good ole' balanced XLR connector? This may just be your ticket to XLR-bliss.
Simply remove the cable from the rear of the microphone using the original platic screw.
Cut the wires going out through the cable (and the cable itself).
Print this sucker out.
Take out a few male molex pins from an unused (and turned off) computer power supply or something (make sure to leave enough wire coming out of them to solder to).
Pop those lil' pins into the holes in the newly printed connector. Make sure to push the tabs on the sides out so that the pins won't fall back!
Solder the original wires to this new connector and screw it in!! It will definitely work best with a little heatshrink on the wires too.
The colors of your wire might vary, so I'd make sure to use a multimeter to test where they're all going. There should be one wire hooked to the mic's grounding shield and two others tied to the ends of the microphone element (should be 150 ohms between them). Ensure that you've got the ground wire to pin 1 of the XLR and the other two can go on the remaining two pins.
