I would like to show You small project of camera rotator built on 9g micro servo’s. It is suitable for really small cameras like Gopro Session and it works perfect with Turtle Rover (www.turtlerover.com)
Things needed for this project:
3D printed parts:
Base x1
Cover x1
Inner_Sleeve x1
Outer_Sleeve x1
Camera_Holder x1
Mechanical parts:
Micro servo Tower Pro SG90 with horns and screws x2
M2x8 Hexagon socket head cap screw x6
M2 Washer x6
M2 nut x6
3x6 self-tapping screw x2
M4 nut
M4x10 Hexagon socket head cap screw
Tools:
Set of hex keys
4mm flat wrench or pliers
cross screwdriver
Drill
2,5mm drill
At first You need to put servo inside the housing in Base. Pull the servo connector out through rectangle hole at the bottom of Base wall. Then mount the servo by 3x6 self-taping screw’s. Now take servo horn, apply to the Cover and check which holes in the servo horn matches the holes in the Cover - mark them and use 2,5mm drill to make them bigger. Use M2x8 screws, washers and nuts to connect servo horn to the Cover and pull the wire through rectangular hole in the Cover and then in Base. Now You can attach Cover to the Base by matching servo horn to the shaft of the servo. Secure the connection by screw from servo set. Now put the M4 nut into the cover and attach servo by using M2x8 screws, washers and nuts. Next step is to take small (one sided) servo horn apply it to the Camera_Holder check which holes matches and also make them bigger by 2,5mm drill. Screw servo to the Camera_Holder by M2x8 screws, washers and nuts. Now press the Outer_Sleeve into the Camera_Holder (if it doesn’t match You can use 7mm drill to make hole in the Camera_Holder bigger). Connect the servo horn with the second servo using screw. Last step is to insert M4 screw into the Inner_Sleeve and screw it into the M4 nut inside the Cover. Okay it is done! Camera_Holder is designed for the GoPro standard but feel free to change it however You want ;)
